Welcome to Grimmerhus

The Museum of International Ceramic Art – Grimmerhus in Middelfart, Denmark, is specialised in modern, international ceramic art, studio ceramics and ceramic design. It is the only museum in Scandinavia of its kind.

Surrounding the Museum is a park with a splendid view on the Little Belt and a fine collection of ceramic sculptures.

In the museum – on three floors and in the side wing – you can experience 10-12 changing exhibitions per year of high international standard. In addition, we regularly arrange varying exhibitions of works from our permanent collection.

Recently, the Museum has acquired a unique, historic gift: The Royal Copenhagen Museum. This collection of works is the result of a fusion of three Danish manufacturers:
(1) Den kongelige Porcelainsfabrik (the original Royal Copenhagen factory),
(2) Bing & Grøndahl, and
(3) the faïence factory Aluminia.

From 2012 on, varying parts of this collection will be exhibited at Grimmerhus.

Opening hours of the museum:
September to May:
Tuesday – Sunday: 11 am to 5 pm. Wednesday 11 am to 8 pm. Monday closed.

June – July – August:
Daily 11 am to 5 pm

From 23 December to 1 January the museum is closed due to the holidays.
